tubetrap_active_mode

Humane trapping

Thanks to the 4 impact bars, the TubeTrap catches mice and rats at lightning speed and very humanely (see Animal Welfare Act) with enormous force.

Hygiene wall

The safe hygienic wall in the middle of the Tubetrap separates the trapped rodents and their potential excretions from the user’s hand. This allows you to dispose of the rodents virus- and germ-free at a distance and activate the metal bracket. In addition, the check only takes a few seconds and is 100% safe (even for non-professional users in accordance with the IfSG).

emitter_tubetrap_passive_mode

Monitoring solution

The Tubetrap can be switched to monitoring mode remotely using the Emitter app or the portal. In this mode, the trap only detects movement, but does not trigger.”

“The portal also offers the function of automatically setting the monitoring mode at recurring intervals. This allows traps to be operated in “catch mode” from Monday to Friday, for example. At weekends, when no employee is on site to dispose of a trapped mouse within 24 hours, the monitoring mode still offers the option of detecting movements. This setting can be transferred to any number of Tubetraps.

Catching mice and rats

With the Runbox Smart made of robust EPP, we have built a new box that holds the Tubetrap and can also be used outdoors to protect against rats and mice. The robust EPP box is extremely flexible and can also be used with our Emitter Cam or Emitter Direct rat trap as well as with analog traps or baits.

Active catching vs. monitoring mode

The Tubetrap can be set to different modes via the app or the portal. Depending on the activity, the app notifies you with different status images to show you exactly what has happened with your trap: trap sprung, mouse caught, movement detected and more.

Pro tip: Many Tubetrap customers use the monitoring function over the weekend, as during this time no employee can empty the traps in accordance with the law if rodents have been caught. Weekend mode can be set via the portal.

On freely selectable days, the TubeTrap can be set to “PASSIVE” and detect and report rodent movements. Just like a PIR or motion detection sensor, only safer, thanks to proven emitter quality. This way you won’t miss any rodent activity. You can switch from active to passive via the app or online – no matter where you are. In the app, you will receive a message with a yellow information icon when a rodent is active, informing you of its movement.

When set to ACTIVE, the Tubetrap strikes and actively catches rodents in compliance with animal welfare regulations. This is also our recommendation, as the following applies to most standards: “Catching is also a form of monitoring”. However, if you are unable to comply with the 24-hour monitoring rhythms (TSchG) at weekends or on public holidays, you can of course also schedule the monitoring function and enjoy complete security. The catch is displayed in the app with a red information icon.

Status information via LED

The TubeTrap has a built-in LED that signals important trap status information in 4 different colors. For example, the LED flashes blue during the network search and shows you in green that it is active and connected.

The traps transmit the current status every 23 hours, regardless of this.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

The TubeTrap has 4 different LED sequences, which help the technician to better operate the trap in the field without having to look at the emitter app.

1. blue flashing

If the LED flashes blue, the trap is currently trying to establish a connection to the server and selects the best available network. The connection has been successfully established when the flashing stops.

2. red flashing

If the LED flashes red, the connection was not established successfully and there is currently no connection to the server. The trap is unable to trigger and will attempt to re-establish a connection after a short time interval.

3. green flashing

The green flashing of the LED signals the countdown to calibration and activation of the sensor. The total countdown time is 20 seconds. The lid of the TubeTrap should then be closed to calibrate the sensors.

4th LED lights up purple/magenta

The purple/magenta LED lights up during calibration of the sensor system. At this point, the lid of the trap should already be closed. If this is not the case, the latch should be re-tensioned for optimum functionality and the calibration should be carried out again in the closed state.

The Tubetrap offers the option of switching between two different operating modes. Here you have the option of switching between active and passive mode. Active mode is set at the factory.

Active mode
Active mode is also referred to as “catch mode”. Here the system triggers and catches rodents.

Passive mode
In passive mode, the movement of the pests is detected, information is forwarded and the trap remains cocked.

The operating mode of a Tubetrap can be changed both in the emitter app and in the portal.

App
The mode can be changed in the detailed settings of a Tubetrap by clicking on the middle button at the bottom of the detailed view of the trap and selecting the desired mode.

Portal
In the portal, the mode can also be changed in the detailed view of a Tubetrap. If you want to change the mode of several tubetraps, we recommend using the multiple selection of traps and changing the mode using the yellow button in the bottom right-hand corner.

The Tubetrap always retrieves pending updates or changes to the operating mode during an active connection to the server. This occurs, for example, every 23 hours during keep-alive or in the event of an event such as trap tensioning or triggering.

It is therefore possible that the mode change will not be adopted by the trap until the next keep-alive.

If the Tubetrap has accepted passive mode, this is displayed as a status in the emitter portal and the app. A gray screen in the app means that no movement has been detected in the last 24 hours.

The Tubetrap sends the so-called “MOTION” signals to the server with every keep-alive. If the number of detected movements exceeds 10, the trap sends the signals directly to the server.

The status of the trap in the app and the portal changes according to the movement detected. The different status icons are shown below:

NB-IoT stands for Narrowband Internet of Things and is a type of low-power wide area network (LPWAN) that is specially optimized for communicating small amounts of data over long distances. NB-IoT enables cost-effective, energy-saving connectivity for IoT devices. It uses narrowband radio technology and is particularly suitable for applications that require low bandwidth and long battery life, such as smart meters, environmental sensors or digital monitoring systems.

LTE-M, also known as Cat-M1 (Category M1), is another wireless technology developed for IoT applications. In contrast to NB-IoT, LTE-M offers a slightly higher bandwidth and therefore enables faster data transfer rates.

Energy efficiency: Both technologies are designed to minimize energy consumption, which is crucial for battery-powered IoT devices. They enable a long battery life and are therefore ideal for pest control applications that require low maintenance and long operating times.

Cost optimization: The implementation of NB-IoT and LTE-M is cost-effective. The narrowband nature of NB-IoT and the optimized bandwidth of LTE-M enable cost-effective connectivity for large numbers of devices.

Long range: Both technologies offer excellent range, which means that signals can be transmitted over long distances. This is particularly useful for applications in remote areas or within structures with weak signal coverage.

Network security: As both technologies are based on existing mobile radio infrastructures, they offer the security and reliability of mobile radio networks.

The interpretation of the legislation (Risk Mitigation Measures “RMM”) clearly recommends that the client works with the professional. But only for traps. This is strictly prohibited for rodenticides.

“Accompanying measures during or after the rodent control measure with 2nd gen. anticoagulants (…) as well as searching for and disposing of dead rodents, setting traps and checking monitors or carrying out organizational IPM measures may be carried out by non-professional pest controllers, after instruction by the pest controller.”

The instruction could, for example, be an email explaining how the traps are set / emptied, or a video or ideally an on-site demo of the trap so that the customer has been instructed in person. This means that autonomous control on the customer side is 100% intentional and legally legitimate.

As long as this activity is not carried out “commercially” and the main business of the company is still, for example, a bakery, it is 100% compliant with §4 of the Animal Welfare Act.
